MASTHEAD: Master of Professional Accounting - Auditing & Assurance
IN for Faculty and Staff IN for MBA Students

HEADER: Program Overview

Although the three-quarter-long, full-time professional master's degree program provides accounting students with the additional credits required to sit for the CPA Exam in the State of Washington, its primary purpose is to prepare students for success in their accounting careers in public accounting, internal auditing, or industry. The program was designed with extensive input from partners of several of the large public accounting firms, and emphasizes the skills needed to succeed in business, including risk management, effective communications, personal selling skills, problem solving, and teamwork.

The program is designed primarily for applicants with an undergraduate degree in accounting (see Admissions). The program includes significant interaction with the business community through guest speakers, joint projects with practicing auditors and business organizations, team competitions, receptions, and internship opportunities. During winter quarter, in lieu of taking selected in-house courses, students have the opportunity to interview for a winter internship with a public accounting firm or one of its clients; if they are accepted by the public accounting firm, their work experience for this supervised internship will be awarded academic credits.
